Lizzie (the POV of the entire book) is your typical, love-struck teen. She moves with her mom to Wisconsin, discovering her true love within her first month. She's very sarcastic and teasing, masking what her heart is really like. To her, life has always been planned. It always will be, too. That is, until she finds that sometimes following your heart is a lot more rewarding the listening to your mother.
Elliott Conners:
Timothy Jones:
Tim is Lizzie's older brother who is as over protective as they get. He's practically engaged to Ruthie who is pretty much the older sister Lizzie always wanted. Tim fights on Lizzie's side when it comes to the disaster of having to pick teams in a war between mother and daughter. Tim is a jock along with a visual artist; one of the best at his new school. All the girls fawn over him, until they see him with Ruthie who bites their heads off (almost literally) if they lay a hand on him.
Ruthie Evers:
Ruthie is Tim's almost-fiance and Lizzie's big sis. Eventually, her and Lizzie move in together in order for Lizzie to be rescued from the clutches of her mother. Ruthie is attending a beauty school and almost always practicing on Lizzie. She's one of those tiny little dolls who seem inoccent, until you start talking to them. Then, you seem what a spit-firey, but sweet, person she is.
Mr. Conners:
Elliott's dad aka the Vice principal who is all for Lizzie and Elliott being together. He's almost ashamed of the way Mrs. Jones acts towards Lizzie, but never says this aloud. His son looks exactly like him and he's married to a very 50's mom-like woman. Together they have two kids (Elliott and his older sister) along with one grandchild belonging to their daughter.
Mrs. Jones:
Lizzie's mom who has switched jobs so many times it's insane. Currently, she's trying to mantain a well-organized high school, get her daughter together with Grant Mitchell, and keep her endless fortune flaired so everyone can envy it. She's over controlling of Lizzie, more so than a normal parent. Her life centers around work, money, and being a socialite.
